Spring Break Oh Eight

What a week.
We are recovering from a whirlwind tour of North Alabama full of family, friends and a Royal Princess Dress Up Party. Henry and Svea are kinda hit or miss with the dress up scene, but Henry practiced some before we left:

so I wasn't worried about it.

He adopted a different style, including the magic shoes, when we actually got to Princess Lydia's house:

Svea has always had a style of her own. No bows, barrettes, head bands, frills, most skirts, absoLUTEly no tights, and whenever possible just be naked is her style. She did, miraculously, pick out this tutu to take with us to the party and she wore it before anyone got there for about 12 minutes. She even borrowed some of Lydia's shoes.

But that pinky toe just...mmmm. Gotta hate that.

So she ended up in the awesome dress that Aunt Merpha made for her last year. And Henry, Cincinnati Bengals all the way, blue crown and all.

When I look at this picture, I remember that song from Sesame Street, "One of These Things is Not Like the Other" or maybe Two of These Things...

The party was a hit - and is every year. This year somehow felt more calm. I can't believe I just wrote that sentence about a 4-year-old party.

Maybe it's because there were mainly girls there, maybe it was the perfect balance of organized activity with free play time, maybe it was that we sent everyone home right after they had cupcakes and ice cream so we didn't see the wildness.

Everything was decorated in royal fashion, though.

Happy happy birthday sweet Princess Lydia! We are so glad to celebrate you.
